Witch Hazel — Hamamelis virginiana — (November 2, 2011) Probably the only plant you will find that has blooms from one year and ripening fruit from the previous year at the same time. This branch shows new blossoms and black seeds emerging from the pods of the previous year's blooms. Be cautious examining seed pods as they are capable of spitting the seeds up to 30 feet away from the tree with great force. |
