QuinaultJamieJanSharon_9583.jpg - One of our guides, Jamie, leads Jan and Sharon down the trail beneath a large Sitka spruce that had blown down during a violent wind storm. This rainforest is an isloated "island' of very large and ancient trees located on the edge of the national park, and because there is extensive logging all around the park lands there is very little growth left to diffuse any winds. As a result , these trees are subject to being uprooted from their shallow purchase in the rainforest soil. Continued damage such as this will only increase as more pockets are opened up to direct confrontation with the wind.
