and curious looks. The bears generally paid little attention to us as we remained passive and non-threatening. They were far more worried about being surprised by a larger bear and spent a significant part of the time with their backs turned to us as they scanned the forest for sounds, sights and scents that might warn them of the arrival of a more dominant bear.
