We went to the base of this mountain (the second fall from the left) to get ice for the onboard food storage chests.  Just one of dozens of falls visible to us  Beautiful scenery, but where were the bears?  OK, my first encounter  Our first Grizzly  There was plenty of lush young grass that the bears enjoyed feeding on. The entire area looked as though it had been mown recently as almost all of the grass was squarely clipped off, and plenty of grass debris floated in all the channels.  We got his attention. This bear was grazing in the lupines, which had just begun to bloom.    Interested?   Seated Grizzly   Gettin' fat. 
Actually this bear is quite skinny and is just beginning to recover.   Three young bears play-fighting. All in fun but some of the slaps and shoves we witnessed were so forceful you could hear the blows.  A foggy morning on the Khutzeymateen.  Trees in an area surrounding a well-worn bear trail.
